(MAM)  - "MAM" imports & distributed and supports Bajaj Auto Vehicles (two and three wheeled scooters) and LML two wheeled Scooters throughout Southern Africa using an extensive network of dealers. MAM's head Office is in Main Road, Muizenberg, on the North Western corner of False Bay in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. A store of fast moving spares is maintained in Muizenberg while whole units and bulk spares are stored at our warehouse in Gordon's Bay prior to distribution to Dealers throughout Southern Africa. MAM has a 'first pick' of some 96% of spares from its Muizenberg store and a vast majority of spares ordered by dealers before 12 mid-day are dispatched on that day by priority post arriving at the dealers closest Post Office by 10a.m. the next day.</FONT></div> <bR> <bR> <div> <I><IMG SRC="197aae30.jpg" border=0 width="170" height="227" ALIGN="LEFT" HSPACE="20" VSPACE="0">Our Mission</I></div> <bR> <div> To provide and support reliable, cost effective, easy to maintain transport for personal use as well as for small and emerging business.</div> <bR> <div> To provide a service to our customers and ensure they have trouble free economic transport for the life of the machine (Which if well maintained is in the region of 50+ years) </div> <bR> <div> To engage with and encourage Scooter clubs to ensure that the "Vespa" marque and its descendants continues to grow. </div> <bR> <div> MAM directly supports the Cape Town Vespa Club and was involved in the inaugural "AfroVespa" rally at Mooreesburg in 2003. Subsequent AfroVespa rallies were held in 2005 at Robertson in 2007 at Tulbagh and again in 2009.</div> <bR> <div> MAM continues to support the bi-annual AfroVespa rally financially. MAM also sponsored and presents the LML Shield to the rider who travels the furthest on his/her scooter to get to the AfroVespa rally.</div> <bR> <bR> <div> <I>Making Africa Mobile - Company Profile</I></div> <bR> <div> Making Africa Mobile (Pty) Ltd was the brainchild of two Rhodesians, who in the early 1990's had recently relocated to Cape Town from Salisbury, saw a need for inexpensive and reliable means of transport for small business's and the bulk of our population.</div> <bR> <div> <IMG SRC="152c8870.jpg" border=0 width="200" height="135" ALIGN="RIGHT" HSPACE="20" VSPACE="0"><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000066" FACE="Arial" >After researching the need a suitable product was found in India, manufactured by a company called Bajaj Auto Ltd. under licence from Piaggio of Italy. Initially in 1993 both the Bajaj three wheeled Pick-Up (Bakkie) and Rear Engined Rickshaw were imported. A fibreglass canopy was manufactured locally to make the Pick-Up more viable and adaptable.</FONT></div> <bR> <div> Following soon after the first shipment it was seen there was a need for personal two wheeled transport and accordingly the Bajaj Chetak </div> <div> (A "Vespa" Sprint by any other name) was imported and distributed throughout Southern Africa via a network of dealers.</div> <bR> <div> In 1999 Piaggio/LML of Kanpur India split from Piaggio and LML was allowed to export it products world wide - whereas previously. products were exported under Piaggio and Vespa names. Making Africa Mobile was chosen by LML to distribute its 'Vespa' models in Southern Africa.</div> <bR> <div> In terms of the settlement agreement with Piaggio LML was not permitted to use the Piaggio or the Vespa name and so exported the models as the 125cc Sensation (Piaggio Prima Vera) - which was disscontinued in 2005, the 150cc models as the Star (Piaggio Vespa PX150) - and the Star deluxe (Which, apart from the 150cc engine is almost identical to the Vespa PX200).</div> <bR> <div> In the early 1990's, Bajaj switched to manufacture of motorcycles and discontinued making their (Vespa type) scooters. They subsequently also stopped production of their three wheeled pick-up.
